Self Portrait As Iris As an Idea
This ongoing series consists of sculptural and two-dimensional portraitures created from the artist’s memory that morph the facial features of the artist and her niece Iris. The title harkens to a miniature persona in Haruki Murakami’s novel Killing Commendatore who emerges alive from a classical painting and claims himself to be the incarnation of the protagonist’s ‘Idea.’
The artist began to think of our thoughtforms taking shape in relation to our heads.
