PROJECTS > Chinked-Out Factory

Chinked-Out Factory is an artist-initiated production line that produces household knickknacks. It is a long-term project that aims at examining the East-made-known in our global economy.

Instead of highlighting the Orient as articulated by the West, however, Chinked-Out Factory attempts to reveal the various sites and mechanisms that have fueled the construction of the Other. By investigating our fears and cultural fetishisms through everyday objects, Chinked-Out Factory looks at the fascination surrounding authenticity, ethnicity, and the handmade.
